In the age of social media we are looking at perfected, flawless selfies on a daily basis. Seeing smooth, poreless skin as we scroll through our feed.
YesTo have launched a new campaign #YesToRealLife to break through the bullsh*t and join in on the anti-perfection movement. Us fellow Millennials are calling out for more authentic posts online – focusing on real skin, real faces and real life. 2019 is all about transparency, both online and in the real world. Everyone is looking for a more meaningful experience and as a result they are becoming empowered to show their real life rather than a filtered version of it! So, in 2019 YesTo are pledging to keep it real! They will continue to commit to featuring real women in marketing, regardless of skin type, body shape, size, ethnicity or background.
Lets continue 2019 celebrating our individuality! Like Dr Seuss said :
“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”
I love to embrace what makes me unique. That includes my skin. I have visible pores (especially on my nose) and breakouts on my chin (hello time of the month!) I am also one of those people who love squeezing spots, so I can be my worst enemy sometimes! Hehe
We all get breakouts and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. We all have textured skin that might look bumpy under makeup. Remember your favourite beauty guru on Instagram or YouTube uses facetune to smooth their skin and have perfectly set up lighting in their videos. It’s not reality!!
I advise you to review who you follow on social media. Get ready to click Unfollow!! Follow more accounts that portray reality. Who don’t Photoshop or smooth their skin. If we continue to compare ourselves to a fake reality online it will do damage to our mental health and self-esteem. It’s not worth it.
I have been able to cut down my feed to people who I genuinely like! People who inspire me and educate me! When I have a scroll on Instagram I am not feeling bad about myself or being annoyed by certain accounts!
YesTo realise our skin doesn’t always behave, it’s not always clear and spots happen! #YesToRealLife is here to embrace that and get rid of the stigma.
All products are affordable and accessible. 95% natural (or more!), formulated without harsh chemicals, parabens or silicones and completely cruelty-free and vegan friendly. They have five key ranges :
- Yes to Tomatoes for blemish-prone skin
- Yes to Coconut for the ultimate hydration
- Yes to Cucumber to soothe skin
- Yes to Grapefruit for brightening
- Yes to Charcoal for detoxification
They also have a range of plastic-free facial wipes that have gained great recognition, as the need to cut down on plastic waste is high. Made with 100% cellulose, a natural polymer that forms part of the living cells of all vegetation. Cellulose is biodegradable, compostable, and renewable. The wipes are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. Unlike other wipes they do not use plastic “binders”. Hurrah!
Check out my video on my instagram , which includes my 2 pledges:
